Robin and I conquered our very first half marathon today! And besides our knees taking a bit of a beating, I have to say that we did seriously awesome!! Our goal was to run the whole way and that is just what we did!! It was a great experience and one that I will be proud of for many years to come...

Since our lil' Baylor Bears have had such an out of this world season, Jason and I decided it would simply be an abomination if we didn't personally go and cheer them on at the Alamo Bowl! Now I'm not saying that all of the other Baylor games we've been to over the years haven't been a good time, but let's just be honest...it's a whole lot more fun to watch your team WIN! Yahoo! We had one heck of a 1st Christmas here in Friendswood! Our stockings were full, (so full in fact that one of the stocking holders fell and punctured my knee)...our bellies were full, (so full in fact that there may need to be some exchanges for some larger sizes)...our pew in church was full...(so full in fact that Kate decided to crawl under it and join a few of the families behind us)...our belief in Santa was full...(so full in fact that Bear became certifiably insane when he heard the jingle bells on the back porch)...our life is full, (so full in fact that I feel like the 3 year old me who ran down the stairs on Christmas morning and exclaimed "It's everything I ever wanted" : )

I had quite a bit of trouble sleeping during the last part of my pregnancy with Kate. Most of it was just the normal pregnancy annoyances, but some of it was straight up anxiety. I was pretty nervous about this 3 kid thing and random words would just run through my head at night...scary, tough, insane, overwhelming, impossible, chaotic, just to name a few. One of the words that didn't come up all that much was...joy. And surprisingly as I write this post a year later, that is the only word that keeps replaying in my head. Kate 'Tater Tot' Fisher is pure joy. She eats like a hoss, laughs like an angel, and hugs like a pro. She is the perfect addition to this crazy family and to say she has stolen each of our hearts would be a definite understatement. : )

It is hard to believe that it has already been a year! Of course we are busy as can be, but we're still trying our very best to soak up this sweet lil' baby. I hope to never forget her cute as pie wave, her only 2 teeth smile, and how perfectly disheveled she looks after waking up from a nap. There is such a big part of me that would love to keep her just as she is...but then I also find myself daydreaming about all of the wonderfully fun things to come for Miss Kate. Will she like ponytails or pigtails? Will she be a princess or a tomboy? Will she play sports or be a bookworm? So many unknowns, but there is one thing that I know for certain...Kate 'Tater Tot" Fisher will continue to bring so much joy to all of us lucky enough to know and love her. : )

Well, the day we had been patiently waiting for finally arrived this past weekend. Yep, it was Big Hannah's birthday party day. Who in the world is Big Hannah? Um, hello? She's only the love of little ol' Bear Bear's life! And oh how he "wuvs" her! He gets this sheepish little grin on his face when he talks about her and her cool clothes and her princess bed. He has made up a song about her appropriately titled "Hannah Loves Me". He honest to goodness wants to marry her. He has absolutely no problem with our K-I-S-S-I-N-G taunting. He has even hounded me to set up a play date. It is all super cute and we have all had a bunch of fun playing around with our lovesick Bear BUT do you want to know the absolute best part? All of a sudden, sweet lil' Hayesee LOVES to go to school! Go figure! Now if we can only ensure that there will be at least one cute girl in his class from now until Senior Year...we will be set! : )

"Thankful in November" was a recent trend on Facebook and of course, since that is so up my ally I just had to participate!

I am unequivocally, absolutely, positively thankful for...

1. My cutie-patootie husband. He has literally made ALL of my dreams come true with his sweet heart and strong swimmers! : )
2. Our three little miracles. Not sure that I will ever feel worthy of their precious faces and unconditional love.
3. My mom and dad who taught me that love isn't perfect, but it IS constant. And not only did they give me one heck of a childhood (minus the authentic cabbage patch doll), they have become some of my very best friends in "adulthood". Thank you for your love and sweet obsession with our children. We are all so lucky to have you.
4. The kind and gentle spirit of my brother, Adam. Who would have thunk that the little boy who stabbed me in the head with a pencil, threw a hacky sack at point blank range in to my eye socket, and shot a basketball straight on at my unsuspecting face would have become such a stand up guy, son, brother, uncle, and friend!! : ) So proud of who he is and so happy to have him as my greatest link!!
5. Priceless memories that will crack me up for eternity!!
6. Those mornings when we have nowhere to be and can just be...
7. My dear friends...near and far, old and new. They have ALL taught me, shaped me, humbled me, and most importantly loved and laughed with me through the good, the bad, and the ugly. And if that wasn't enough, I really like having someone to blame for all of these smile wrinkles. : )
8. Nights when the kids are safely tucked in their beds, Jason is quietly tinkering around the house, and I am intently watching trash tv. Good stuff...
9. Being able to stay at home with my kiddos. Although some days definitely have "Calgon Take Me Away" moments than others, I wouldn't trade this time for the world.
10. Drive thru cleaners!
11. Girl time...especially girl time while SHOPPING!
12. Nights EXACTLY like this...
13. My health and the health of my loved ones (fingers crossed)...
14. The excited singing and chatter of my full of life kids!
15. Naps on rainy afternoons! Wait...scratch that...for naps on ANY afternoon!
16. Living so close to my parents! The boys' school called saying Jack had a fever and Kate had just gone down for her nap...what to do? How about Gigi to the rescue? Talk about the ultimate sister wife!
17. The "this is the life" mutterings of the boy's as they drink their Starbucks hot chocolate. Just because we're home sick, doesn't mean we aren't going to party!
18. The kids did not see the huge 'Original Big Wheel' box that Fed Ex just dropped off on our front porch. I mean, geez, don't they know I've got a Santa thing working here??
19. Jason having such a great dad! His time with him was way too short, but I'm pretty sure his influence helps to make each of our days just a little easier. It's almost like he just handed me this wonderful gentleman on a silver platter...talk about a gift that keeps on giving!
20. Nights with old friends! So fun to remember the goofy times...especially when looking around it's obvious just how far we've come!
21. Road trips of old and road trips of new...completely different, but ALWAYS and adventure!
22. Beautiful fall days!
23. My memories with Tim Morris..."not a good color" and his race down the hallway will make me laugh out loud for always. He was definitely one of the good ones and will be missed by all!
24. Realizing just how lucky I am!

Whoa nelly...this Thanksgiving was one for the record books!! We had 1 very sick Bear, 1 medium sick Jack, 1 tiny bit sick Kate which made for 1 very exhausted and more than a tad looney mama!! Photo Shoot Peril!!

Well...as a few of you may know, I've gotten myself into a little situation. Somehow along the way, I have become a tad bit anal about our holiday card. And when I say a tad bit anal, I actually mean, I want that sucker stamped and in the mail by December 1st. Not December 2nd or 3rd, but December 1st. NO excuses and NO exceptions. : )
Unfortunately for my family, this Christmas card obsession means that November is not just the 11th month in the year. It is not just the time of thanks. It is not just moments of turkey trots and big ol' meals. It IS the season of the photo shoot!!
We usually do the professional photographer thing so there has been little to no stress in meeting my deadline...however, this year I figured why not be a 'do it yourself-er'? Why not? I'll tell you why not...
I had decided that Saturday was the day. The coordinating outfits had arrived. The mosquito's had finally relaxed a bit. Sure...Jack had a slight runny nose which had somehow turned the space between his nose and upper lip an almost neon red. And of course, Kate had rammed her head into our bed and now had a full on black eye. And yes, Bear had caused many a dark circle with his random and insanely loud nighttime outbursts as of late. All of that meant nothing, I had cover up and I was on a mission.
After scouting out the backyard, we decided that the boat dock was going to be the money shot. We did everything right. We took lighting and angle into account. We waited for the slow as molasses boat to move out of the background. We arranged our little party of five just right and set the automatic timer. Ready? Set? Cheese!
Done deal. My early bird reputation is upheld and everyone is happy. Right? Right.
Well, not exactly. Somehow we had forgotten to take into account our subjects. Specifically our 3 year old. He would not...could not...look at the camera. And if by somehow, he did look at the camera then his little sister would not...could not...look at the camera. And if somehow she did look at the camera then her oldest brother would take it upon himself to give her a death grip hug. And just in case you were wondering, she is not a fan of death grip hugs.
So it went. Jason would set the self timer, rush to his spot, we'd take the picture, he'd jump up to check, I'd search his face hopefully, and then he would slowly but surely shake his head in defeat.
Throughout the whole ordeal, I remained optimistic. I knew that we only needed one. JUST ONE! So I pushed on...through take after take. Promises were made and bribes were handed out like candy. When the rest of the family wavered, I remained steadfast.
That is until...during one of our "breaks" Jack began to explore a bit. Next thing I know, I am watching my first born slide down the 5 foot embankment into the murky waters below. I remember screaming "Jason! Jason! Jason!" at the top of my lungs as I watched in horror. I remember feeling paralyzed to move. Upon review, I logically chalked my paralysis up to fear and the fact that I must have been holding Kate at the critical time of rescue. Unfortunately for me, Jason quickly burst that bubble by informing me that no, he was the one holding Kate as he plucked Jack out of the water. Oops. I will say that I did an excellent job at sounding the alarm which let's be honest, is the only reason the whole dang rescue was set into motion in the first place. But I digress. : )
Thankfully, Jack landed in only about a foot of water so besides a couple of scratches and some very wet shoes...no real harm was done. No harm you say? No real harm means the photo shoot can continue, right? Right. I figured all we needed to do is cut the bottom of his pants out of the picture and no one would ever guess that we had just had "a situation". I mean, after all, we just needed ONE.
Despite the steady increase in grumbles, we tried it a couple of more times but alas...the perfect picture was not to be. It was time to accept defeat and call it a day. I began to gather things up and Jason took it upon himself to return the neighbor's long board to its' rightful place on the dock. The next thing I knew, there was a huge and ginormous splash! Surprised, I look up to see Jason up to his neck in creek water! What in the world?!? Well, turns out Jason took one step too many and off the end of the dock he went!!!
I mean, really, how can I work in these conditions!?! : )

The Sweetest of Show n' Tells...

Awhile ago, I told Jack about how once upon a time I took baby 'Uncle' Adam to show n tell at my school. I could tell he liked the story at the time, but we hadn't talked about it again. We've had plenty of show n tells of plenty of trains, planes, and automobiles since...BUT this past week Jack decided he wanted this particular show n tell to be extra-special. He wanted to bring baby Kate. Of course, I thought this was a perfect idea (great minds think alike) and operation "Kate Goes to School" was put in to place. First, Jack picked out what he wanted Miss Kate to wear. Duh. Next, we cleared things with his teacher and worked out the logistics. And then, it was go time! A very excited Jack met me at the door so that I could attempt to fit his extremely chubby sister into the extremely small show n' tell bag. Lucky for me, he was feeling quite flexible and allowed for just her legs to be bagged. : ) Once we were all set, the showing and the telling could finally begin. Jack introduced her as Katelyn Drew, said that he didn't know how old she was, and said that yes...she is into everything. He then sat back with this smile that dripped of sweetness and pride. And Kate? Well, as anticipated...baby Kate stole the show out of show n' tell. : )

Grandad Turns 60 Big Ones!!

Gigi and Grandad have had quite the exciting year! They had their 40th wedding anniversary in May and then Grandad just turned the big 6-0 on Thursday! Gigi and I decided we just couldn't let such a year of milestones pass by without throwing a big ol' party in celebration! And just for kicks, we thought why not make it a surprise party!?! It turned out to be an awesome night in honor of our sweet, loving, and awesome Grandad! We love you to the moon and back!

Crop Walk 2011!

As some of you may know, our boys are a little picky in the eating department. And of course, we've tried many a thing to get them to open up the nourishment hatch...we've gone through bribery to PediaSure to reverse psychology and then back on through them again! Lately, we've upped the anty and started talking to them about how there are a ton of children who go to bed hungry each and every night. And although Bear is still a bit too little to comprehend such a huge thought, the idea has really struck a cord with Jackie B and got him thinking about a lot of 'big kid' things. Sooo when a 'Crop Walk' for the starving children in Somalia came up at church, Gigi and Grandad thought what a perfect way for Jack to do something great for those kiddos less fortunate in the food department. Not only did they want Jack to walk the 3 miles with them, but he also needed to raise some money all by his lonesome! Whoa...this was big! But not surprisingly, Jack stepped up to the challenge! He asked one neighbor for money all by himself and only had to be carried some of the way on the walk. : ) We're very proud of you, Jackie B! What a great start to doing great things for those who need you!

Most of the time...we take in a chick flick, get a pedicure at the local spa, and of course shop till we drop. Ha! Not so much...but we sure do like to crawl around and take some killer naps! Jack had his first soccer game of the season on Saturday!! And let me just tell you, it was a great day! Before the game, we decorated our car in team colors and drove in an opening day parade all the way to the field! Um, can you say...awesome? And the kicker? He did SO well in the game...played his little heart out the whole time, found a serious calling as goalie, and even had a few jump out of your seat, nail biters on offense! Way to go, Jackie B! You're awesome!

The bottom of his jeans (big shorts) might have been a little damp, but other than that I don't even think Bear noticed those pesky raindrops one bit. And why should he? He was surrounded by almost all of his favorite people. He danced. He ate sugar and popcorn. He teeter tottered. He belly laughed. He bounced. He watched Rio AND he stayed up way too late. 9 pm! Whoa! Sounds like a downpour of birthday awesomeness if you ask me!! : )

Bear and the Big 3!

Let me tell you a little bit about my buddy, Bear. He is beautiful. He has these baby blues with lashes that just won't quit, perfectly bucked teeth that lay just right when he smiles, and this porcelain skin that turns just the right shade of pink when he is working really hard. His car seat is positioned just right for my rear view mirror and it's really a wonder that I haven't run over more than a few curbs because I seriously just want to take every bit of him in and file it away. I love to watch how his whole face lights up when he spots a motorcycle, how he sticks in his thumb and nestles to the side when he's tired, and how he sings just as loud and just as proud as his older brother during their "rock outs".

This 'stuck in the middle' boy of ours is a funny, smart, gentle, clumsy, energetic, sensitive, silly, stubborn, strong willed, painfully shy, lovable mess. He still randomly falls down at least 20 times a day, but like Grandad says he'll probably end up being the best athlete in the bunch. He is kind as can be to his little sister (baby girl) and has learned to hold his own with his big brother (Jach). He can literally talk your ear off and is definitely the king of the sideways look. He is a straight up cuddle bug that will jump into my lap as soon as it becomes available. We often talk about how the girls just don't stand a chance. But really, now that I think about it...I'm pretty sure that none of the rest of us did either. : )

So happy happy birthday, Bear Rylan. Thank you for bringing so much life to this family of ours. We absolutely and positively love you to pieces.

Let me tell you a little bit about my buddy, Jack. He's beautiful. My dad told me a long time ago that sometimes when his kids are talking he's not even really paying attention because he is just so captivated by their cuteness. I thought it was a really sweet thing to say at the time but now I get it...I really get it. I love it when Jack tells me a story because he is actually still long enough for me to drink him in...his dimple, his freckle on his nose, his pretty eyes that sparkle with life's possibilities. I often wonder which will be the one that drives the girls wild and although I love them all, I always land on the same answer...his heart.

I remember when Jack was just a baby, I told my mom that I could just tell that he had a good heart. She looked at me with one of those 'aren't new mom's so sweet' looks, but I didn't waver in my conviction. And turns out I was right. He is the kid at school who befriends the little boy who doesn't have many friends. He is the kid who encourages his buddy to find more roly poly's so their bucket can be as full as his own. He is the kid who will buy his little brother a toy motorcycle with his birthday money. And then how can you forget his spontaneous hugs and fierce declarations of love? It just can't be beat.

Of course, there is SO much more to this little boy of ours! In a nutshell...he is smart, goofy, challenging, curious, moody, cautious, witty, confident, rebellious, shy, hyper, infuriating, silly, detail oriented, etc...aka PERFECT. As you can see, we have a wonderful little mess on our hands and I can hardly wait to see what else he's got up his sleeve...

So happy, happy Birthday Jack Fish. I hope we give you what you need and so much more. And thank you for giving me the very best gift of all...this crazy thing called motherhood. I could never, ever repay you, but I promise to spend my whole life trying to do so. Love you, buddy.

Gigi and Grandad are sweet enough to invite us on a beach vacation every summer. Unfortunately things were a little different this year...we added sweet baby Kate to the mix and Jason wasn't able to make the trip due to that annoying thing called work. So yes go ahead and do the math...WE WERE A BABY UP AND A DADDY DOWN! And let me tell you, those odds made for quite the cross country adventure! Here are a few of my favorite quotes of the week...

"Unbelievable" - Grandad any time the kids did something insane (which was a lot)
"I mell something" - Bear every time someone pooped or threw up (which was a lot)
"That was freaky" - Jack's response after Gigi jumped in the ocean to rescue his pet Flipper
"Close your eyes, Grandad" - Jack while trying to hit Grandad with a noodle
"If Jack throws up, I'm going to mell it" - Bear during a car ride back to the hotel
"There comes them" - me after spotting Jack and Grandad
"Get me out of this car" - anyone who was sitting in the backseat with the kiddos
"Grandad said it was going to stop raining" - Jack every few minutes after 24 hrs of rain
"It mells like fishies" - Bear's observation while walking to the car
"Do you like this one?" - Gigi after picking out the exact same shirt I had just bought 5 min ago
"Slurp, slurp, slurp" - Grandad drinking his 44 oz margarita while hiding behind the car

This Ol' House!

It's not often that you get to go back in time, but that is exactly what we get to do for the next couple of months. Since the Friendswood place isn't quite finished and our rent house just happened to be free of renters...it obviously made a ton of sense to just move into our rent house. But the thing is that this house isn't just a rent house...it is the house that Jason lived in when I first met him. It is the place that I nervously drove to for his infamous Super Bowl party. It is the driveway where we shared our second kiss. It is the oven that I used to cook my first dinner (lasagna of course) for Jason. It is the backyard where we drank margaritas and played Survivor Mexico with great friends. It is the porch that I anxiously checked each evening for wedding presents. It is the kitchen where we called to find out that 'no matter how faint the line...you are still pregnant'. It is the couch where we suffered through a bout of food poisoning and wondered aloud if our love could get us through. It is the living room where we announced our very first baby news to yelling, screaming, and crying family. It is the nursery that we painstankingly painted the worst color of green possible. It is the yard where Jason and his dad had the big plan to build a fence and then finally had an even bigger plan to ask the guy down the street to build the fence instead. It is the wood floors that would creak each and every time we crept away from Jack's crib. It is the house where we fell in love and began this amazing journey. How wonderful to get to fill up this space once again...

We decided to celebrate America up BIG this year and what better way to do that than a trip down to Pointe West, Galveston! And of course since we were doing it up big, we just had to spend it with a whole bunch of friends AND a whole heck of a lot of cute kiddos! The 25 of us (12 adults and 13 kiddos) had a blast soaking up the sun and fun over the much needed long weekend. In fact we had such a good time that (dare I say it?) our annual 'friendly stay-cation' may have just been born! : )

Things are always a tad bit nutty around here soooo the kids and I decided why not make it official and host a 'Wacky Wednesday Playdate'! We had a great time picking out our silly outfits and had plenty of kooky plans for the morning like swimming to Christmas music, making goofy whip cream hair, and seeing just how many loony kids we could fit on our brand new water slide! Unfortunately, the weather decided to one up us on the peculiar side! It rained and it rained and it rained ALL morning long! Can you say bummer dude? Oh well...the kids still had a blast and woke up from nap asking when is the next 'Wacky Wednesday Par-tay'!

Gigi, the kids, and I decided that NOW was a perfect time to make our annual trek to Tyler! And as usual, we had a blast invading each and every area of Uncle Adam's life. We filled up the trip with chasing, wrestling, swimming, a tiny bit of puking, not much sleeping, and a whole lot of laughing! Thanks again for such big time fun, Uncle Adam! And I sure hope you're resting up because I know of two little boys who CANNOT wait to do it all over again!

He has been to about 4 sessions so far and is still a bit on the shy side BUT if you saw this kiddos push kick...you might find yourself searching for your very own kimono! The Fishers take Sea World!

We finally made it back to Sea World! It might have taken us two years, but boy howdy it was worth the wait! As it turns out, we couldn't have timed our crazy aquatic adventure any more perfect. It was so much fun to see Jack (aka Mr. Adventure) take on tidal waves, roller coasters, and one way over the top dolphin. And the look of awe on Bears' face as he watched Shamu was so,so sweet and worth the price of admission in itself. And of course, the trip wouldn't have been the same without cutie pie Kate's squeaks and giggles ringing in our ears. Man I just love this completely exhausting, but fun lovin' family of mine! Here's to 1 successful 'family of 5' road trip down and hopefully a million more to go...

Last weekend, we headed down to the Speer's beach house for one heck of a summer kick off! There just isn't a whole of things that are more fun than a day at the beach with great friends...unless of course, you end that day with a full on 18 person slumber party! Needless to say, we all had an absolute blast and we're completely pooped after all of the seaside festivites. Thanks again for the hospitality Ben, Jen, and Luke! The Fisher family will be glad to sand and surf it up with you any day! : )

Spring Sing 2011!

Jack's class had their end of the year concert on Friday! And true to past performances, the little booger put on quite the show! Looking back, it seems like all of his shows have had their own theme...some times it's been a wardrobe malfunction, other times it's been a strange physical ailment...well, this time I'd have to say the theme was just pure unadulterated, uninhibited, straight up GOOFINESS!! Oh yes, Jack sang it from the rooftops (at times during dead silence) with ants in his pants and silliness in his toes! Man, this boy of ours makes my heart smile and most days he darn well makes it laugh out loud. : )

P.S. These videos don't do our show stopper justice, but true to my past performances...in trying to be "efficient" I erased all of the pictures off my camera before uploading them. Ugh! Ugh! Double UGH!

Since you probably don't have my parental homing device...he is center-ish in the striped shorts. : )

In honor of Mother's Day, I recently put this picture of my mom and I on Facebook. Of course, I didn't ask her permission beforehand so I was a little unsure of how she would take being paraded on the social network in such a skimpy outfit. So after an hour or so I sent her a text (we're very high tech now as you can probably tell) to see how she felt about our 'blast from the past' picture. This is pretty much how our conversation went...

Me: What do you think of our picture?
Mom: I like it.
Me: So does everyone on Facebook.
Mom: What are they saying?
Me: They think you're hot.
Mom: That's what I thought they would be saying.

I had an absolutely perfect Mother's Day this year. It was full of perfect little fingers and stinky little toes. It was full of perfect little faces covered in sticky chocolate doughnuts. It was full of perfect baby kisses and super slobbery cuddles. It was full of perfect flowers held by chubby little hands. It was full of perfect pictures drawn with love and new found confidence. It was full of perfect snuggles and big time snores. It was full of perfect giggles and high pitched squeals. It was full of my perfectly imperfect family and I am one very lucky girl. : )

True to form, we packed it in this Mother's Day weekend! Aunt Barbara and 'Great' Granny were here to meet Kate for the first time and we just couldn't wait to show them this 3 kid thing up close and personal. Of course since we hardly ever sit still, we might as well give them a taste of this big lil' family on the go! And I'm tellin' ya, we were all over the place...from Pearland to Clear Lake to Friendswood, from parent/teacher conferences to pancake breakfasts, from dinner with the girls to an early morning fun run! Luckily, we always seemed to land poolside which made all of the crazy seem kind of relaxing. : ) We love you Aunt Barb and 'Great' Granny! Thanks for making the trip down to run a little wild with us...

Sleepover Central!

With Jack off exploring new frontiers, there was a lot of pressure to make sure that the littlest Fishers also had a top notch weekend here on the homestead. After carefully considering each and every option, I decided that there was absolutely just one way to go...SLUMBER PARTY!! Needless to say, Bear and Kate were more than a little pumped up about our big plans and could hardly wait for Will, Andy, and Calleigh to arrive. Once it was finally party time, that is exactly what we did...P-A-R-T-Y!! It was such a fun night and totally worth the inevitable and unavoidable slumber party hangover. And I mean, totally. : )
