Too Cool for School!

Jack Bryant had his first day of school this past week! It was a day full of tearless goodbyes, excited hellos, and big ol' hugs!! Can you say WINNER?? Five years old sure is lookin' good on this kid!

Five Years and Counting...

Let me tell you a little bit about my buddy, Jack. He's beautiful. My dad told me a long time ago that sometimes when his kids are talking he's not even really paying attention because he is just so captivated by their cuteness. I thought it was a really sweet thing to say at the time but now I get it...I really get it. I love it when Jack tells me a story because he is actually still long enough for me to drink him in...his dimple, his freckle on his nose, his pretty eyes that sparkle with life's possibilities. I often wonder which will be the one that drives the girls wild and although I love them all, I always land on the same answer...his heart.

I remember when Jack was just a baby, I told my mom that I could just tell that he had a good heart. She looked at me with one of those 'aren't new mom's so sweet' looks, but I didn't waver in my conviction. And turns out I was right. He is the kid at school who befriends the little boy who doesn't have many friends. He is the kid who encourages his buddy to find more roly poly's so their bucket can be as full as his own. He is the kid who will buy his little brother a toy motorcycle with his birthday money. And then how can you forget his spontaneous hugs and fierce declarations of love? It just can't be beat.

Of course, there is SO much more to this little boy of ours! In a nutshell...he is smart, goofy, challenging, curious, moody, cautious, witty, confident, rebellious, shy, hyper, infuriating, silly, detail oriented, etc...aka PERFECT. As you can see, we have a wonderful little mess on our hands and I can hardly wait to see what else he's got up his sleeve...

So happy, happy Birthday Jack Fish. I hope we give you what you need and so much more. And thank you for giving me the very best gift of all...this crazy thing called motherhood. I could never, ever repay you, but I promise to spend my whole life trying to do so. Love you, buddy.

Happy Bday Party Day, Jackasaurus!!

Jack had his 5TH birthday party on Friday morning! And I'm thinking it's safe to say that he had one heck of a roarin' good time! It was two hours of complete chaos, constant motion, and absolute nonsense! In other words...exactly what the birthday boy ordered up for his big day! Thanks to all of our dino-mite friends and family who helped our little guy stomp it out and party it up!
