Jackson Bryant Turns 3!!

The build up for Jack's 3rd birthday has been intense. We have been talking about it for months! We've discussed everything from balloons to cupcakes to race cars to presents to party hats and every other little thing in between. Any time we were in a store and he saw something that he just had to have...we've calmly stated "well, maybe for your birthday." He's taken this all in and has maintained a controlled excitement. It was only a couple of weeks ago that he had finally had enough. When I told him that the iguana couldn't come home with us because it was just too close to his birthday, he sighed dramatically and asked "well, when is my birthday?" Well, this past weekend his big day was finally here. Jackie B is now officially a three year old!! It is hard to believe that our little guy is quickly becoming a big guy. Today it's big boy undies, bunk beds, and preschool but what's next for this little boy with the big personality? I can spend hours on end daydreaming about everything that is to come for this sweet, precocious, goofy, energetic, quick witted, temperamental, shy, loving, and smart little boy. I definitely don't know the answer to all that his future holds, but I do know that I feel so very, very lucky to get to find out. : )

A Re-Cap from Racer Jack!

Okay, so it was my 3rd birthday party on Saturday and as luck would have it my mom (yes, the mom who constantly has a camera stuck in my face) pulled the bonehead move of all bonehead moves and accidentally erased every single picture she took at the party. She has been whining about it for two days now and since the whining is starting to get to me, I have decided to help her out and let her take pictures of me while I told her all about my big party. Aren't I sweet?

Okay, so where do I begin...if you know me at all then you know I eat, sleep, and breathe cars! I have loved them for as long as I can remember so when mom and dad told me that I was going to have a race car party, I thought now this could be mighty interesting!

Of course, I was excited to have a party but as they started to fill me in on all the details...I got REALLY excited. We were going to a real life race track to see real live race cars RACE! Plus, after we watch the cars race we get to go down and meet the drivers while we look at the cars up close and personal. Plus, a bunch of my friends were going to be there too. I thought now this is really getting good!

After what seemed like forever, my big day was finally here! We pulled up to my birthday tent and there were a bunch of balloons, race car cookies, hot dogs, chips, drinks, etc. And as luck would have it, the park had two big ol' bouncy things set up! How cool is that?

While I waited for some of my buds to show up, Grandad and Uncle Adam took me over to check out the track. All I could say was "Whoa"

And then I said another "Whoa" just because it was that cool!

Mom had told me that I was going to have to wear these big headphones to protect my little ears from the loud cars. She also got some for all of my friends' little ears too. Some of them didn't realize how cool they looked in them, but I had seen myself in the mirror so I knew how cool I looked in them.

After we bounced awhile and then ate some hot dogs, it was finally time for the big race. When the cars first came out, I just thought to myself now this is exactly what I'm talking about.

I couldn't believe it...they had lots of races of all different kinds of cars. They had everything! There were race cars and minivans and trucks going around and around the track. They even had some kids racing little bitty cars. One of the little cars looked exactly like my bud "Lightening McQueen"
My friends and I just cheered and cheered! I kept asking my mom who she thought was going to win, but I could never hear what she was saying because of my big ol' headphones.

I had such a good time, but I guess all the excitement (or heat or sugar) ended up getting to me. I threw up in the parking lot before we left. It was kind of weird, but after a short little nap in the car I felt much better and haven't slowed down since.

So don't worry about your bonehead move, mom! I will remember this birthday for a long, long time with or without pictures. It was awesome!

Friends+Family=Fun, Fun, Fun!

We had another whirlwind of a weekend around here! We started off on Thursday night with the wedding of a sorority sister of mine. She was a beautiful bride and it was so much fun to have a much needed date with my husband and get to catch up with some college friends I hadn't seen in forever. The rest of the weekend was equally as fun as we spent lots of much needed quality time with Aunt Barbara, Big Granny, and Uncle Adam who were in town visiting. It was so nice to get to love on them and let them love on these little boys of ours! Thanks for making the trip down...we miss you already!

All dressed up and somewhere to go!

Giving a shout out to AXO! The wine coupled with the fact that we went to school in the 1990's made this task much more difficult than you would think

Mom and I decided to get a little fancy for the blog this time. Yep that's a pearl necklace I'm wearing and you can't see it but mom is wearing a spiffy little hair piece

Uncle Adam and Hayes return after a walk around the garden

Jack decided to do a little modeling. This is his pouty lip look...

Whoa Nelly!

I eluded to this previously, but decided that this lesson learned deserved it's very own post. Let me state again...do not ever, ever let me slide with a chubby ten month old!!! As you can see, my spazziness is just too unpredictable...

New Braunfels or Bust!

Jason's triathlon in New Braunfels was this past weekend so of course that means it was time for a "family bacation". Like most family vacations, we had an awesome time but things didn't go exactly as planned. It was actually going just about as well as it could go...we drove up without incident, got some good deals at the outlet mall, had an absolute blast at Schlitterbahn, and a yummy dinner at the Gristmill. But then just when we decided things couldn't get much better, our super star athlete came down with the stomach bug. Bummer. He is starting to feel a bit better now and although he is disappointed that he wasn't able to race, we still had a great weekend and even learned some valuable lessons along the way. One of these is do not play the "banana fanna game" with the word truck and the other is do not ever, ever let me go down a slide with a chubby ten month old.
