Mama got a Flip!

Jason got me a Flip camcorder for my birthday this year! I have been wanting one for quite awhile, but he was a little hesitant to get me one for some reason. I guess he figured that I had enough going on with the blog, facebook, and the enormous amount of pictures I already take on a daily basis. I think it also might have had to do with the fact that many of my little gadgets somehow end up fully submerged in water. : ) Whatever his reasoning, I am so pumped that he finally caved! Now I can post videos as well as pics and finally put some spice into this blog of ours! Of course, I decided to try the thing out before we even made it home from my birthday dinner and I actually think it turned out pretty well for my very first bloggable video. I guess I am a bit partial to the subject matter though! : )

May the gladness of Christmas give you hope,
And the warmth of Christmas grant you love!

Family Loyalty...Sort Of

Jack doesn't have to be put in "time out" too terribly often, but when he does you can rest assured that it has something to do with his little brother. Whether it's a little shove here or a full on body tackle there, an attack on little Bear is almost always the reason behind Jack and his "time outs." We've all pretty much got the routine down...Jack is warned about his behavior, Jack ignores the warning, Jack is put in time out, Jack stays in time out, and then we slowly venture over to make sure he understands why exactly he is there. And in true Supernanny fashion, we then discuss how he cannot run over his brother with the 4 wheeler or kick him off the back of the dump truck or any other acts of brotherly love. Jack is then expected to apologize to his brother, hug him gently, and then we all go about our day until the next act of violence. We have only one little problem with this routine and his name is Hayes Rylan Fisher. No matter how upset Hayes just was about the 6 pillows Jack had just piled on his head or how upset he was about the out of the blue body slam he just endured...no matter what has just happened or where in the house we have placed Jack to think things through, Hayes will painstakingly search and inevitably sniff his older brother out. After he finds him, he then makes a mad dash and will either sit as close as he possibly can to Jack or sometimes directly in Jack's lap. He then proceeds to do his best to make Jack laugh which is not that hard considering Jack absolutely loves that his sweet little victim has come to rescue him from the humdrum of a normal "time out." As you might have guessed, the "time out" has lost quite a bit of credibility around here so today I decided to make matters even worse and take a picture of the two of them sitting in the corner. Yes I know Supernanny would have a cow, but I figured there is something to be said for family loyalty even when it comes after a cheap shot!

Snow Day!

Friday was a very big day around here! As we left the house in the morning, these big luscious flakes of snow were coming down all around us. The boys and I were feeling so very Christmasy as we drove around watching the snow fall and of course, listening to some good old fashioned "jingle bells." Those big chubby flakes followed us all the way to Clear Lake showing no signs of letting up , but instead of heading out to play we hurried inside Gigi and Grandad's warm cozy house. We just knew that there would be plenty of time to play in the snow later so why not wait on Daddy to get there. I mean, the weather guys were saying snow till 5 p.m. Uncle Mike was saying the biggest snow was surely coming at 3 p.m. So we figured what was the hurry? We went about our business, oohing and awing at the snow from inside the coziness of the house. Well, all of a sudden those big ol' flakes just up and stopped. It was right about this time that I started getting texts and pictures of the winter wonderland that had been happening and was continuing to happen back at our house in Pearland. I was pretty bummed to say the least, but I just kept thinking that those big luscious flakes would be back. We kept our eyes on the sky and with the slightest increase in flurries, we would exclaim "I think it's really going now" and the rush was on to get all bundled up and head outside. The 1st time we hit the front porch in a dead sprint, only to have Jack stop dead in his tracks and say "I think it's just raining." Luckily, the 2nd time out we convinced Jack that it was actually snowing and that the fun could finally begin. We had a great time and I even learned an important lesson...trying to catch those teensy-weensy snowflakes is just as much fun as catching those big luscious ones!
