Forget Me Nots!

I love having this blog for a number of reasons...for one thing, it's an easy way to share our many adventures with family and friends who we don't get to see nearly enough. Also as a surprising side benefit, I have discovered how much I really love to write and make stories out of our crazy every days. Somehow, it has also become my own little version of 'therapy' and I mean really, what mom doesn't need a little therapy now and then? : ) But most importantly, this blog has become the boys' baby/childhood book. I'm not sure exactly when they will be interested in reading it, but I am almost 100 % sure that one day they will love having their childhood chronicled in such a ridiculously anal way. So with that being said, this post is all about the boys as I see and love them this very day. It's about trying to freeze this one point in time, knowing that it is impossible to do so. It's about trying to hold on to them as I also push them forward. It's about letting these two future 6 year olds, 14 year olds, and 20 somethings know that their mom drank them in...every single day...from their long lashes to their scraggly toes.

So even though I know there will be plenty of new 'forget me nots' in the future, here are just a few of the things that I love about the boys right this second and that I wish I would never, ever forget:

1. The way Jack says 'last but not least' in almost all of his stories.
2. Bears' chubby elbows.
3. The way Jack tells Hayes to come with him when he needs to go potty. And how Bear stops what he is doing to go with him when he needs to go potty.
4. The way Hayes always says he wants to read "Brown Bear" at bedtime.
5. The way the boys' eyes sparkle when their face is flushed from playing outside.
6. Jack's little bitty freckle on the side of his nose.
7. The proud look on Hayes' face when he clears his plate.
8. The way they can get each other cracking up, just by rolling a grape to one another.
9. The way Jack likes to hear stories about us when we were little.
10. The way Bear falls down a million times a day, but 999, 999 of those times he just says "uh oh" and gets right back on his way.

What about the way Hayes says please so politely: peese.

What about the way Hayes and Jack sang one of their first words: balll.

What about the way Jack says "actually" when he is explaining what he wants.

What about the way Jack says "GiGi. GiGi. GiGi..." until he gets Gigi's attention.

What about Jack's "joke", "Stop Grandad!"

What about how Jack says bahina instead of hyena and biraffe instead of giraffe?

What about how Hayes gives great open-mouthed kisses, especially after he bites you?

What about how both Hayes and Jack laugh out loud when you tickle their bellies?

What about how Jack and Hayes run to you when they are scared?

What about how Jack looks when he is eating his long-awaited sweet treat?
