I decided it was about time for a visit to the great state of Oklahoma! Jason was headed out to Robert Lee so it was just me and the 2 little guys on this very big and very nerve wracking journey! Things actually went pretty well, all things considered...that is, if you considered that of course, Jack would suddenly decide that walking on his knees was much more fun than walking on his feet. And of course, Hayes would decide to poop twice before we had even made it to Dallas. And of course, I would decide to leave my entire bag of wipes in Houston. And of course, Jack would decide to yell at the top of his lungs "we're taking off" during one too many of the flight attendants little speeches. And of course, my stroller would decide to become completely uncooperative at a completely uncooperative time. And of course, Hayes would decide to throw quite the fit right as we slowly made our way to the front of an amazingly long line of fellow passengers. And of course, Jack would need to pee right at take off, right at landing, and nowhere in between. And of course, Hayes would decide that my pants and his shirt were the perfect napkins for just about everything. And of course, Jack would decide to ask (extremely loud and extremely often) if we were in "Oklahomos" yet. And of course this list could go on, but I bet you probably have gotten the idea so I might as well just answer the burning question of well, was it all worth it? And my answer? Why, of course!

My Turn to Give Thanks!
Both sides of our family abandoned us on Turkey Day this year! At first we weren't exactly sure what we would do with ourselves, but we slowly began to pull a plan together. We decided to start the day off at the Turkey Trot, mix in a little Christmas decorating, watch some football, take some naps, play outside in the beautiful weather, get dressed up, and eat a nice dinner at home. Amazingly enough, we stuck to the plan and ended up having a near perfect Thanksgiving Day! Of course we missed having our family around, but if you have to be on your own for Thanksgiving then I would pick spending it with these two little turkeys and one big turkey any day!

Giving Thanks!
Jack had his Thanksgiving Feast at school this week and of course, that meant more stage time for our blossoming star. Since we are now veterans at this school production stuff, we all knew just what to do...Jack played to the crowd, Jason manned the video camera, I handled the still camera, and Gigi was put in charge of the wild Bear. The kids were dressed up as Pilgrims or Indians and sang songs about turkeys and thankfulness. I figured that all of this thankfulness talk was probably making Jack a little sentimental about his many blessings. I decided the ride home was the perfect time to find out whether my hunch was correct. So I asked "Hey Jack, so what are you thankful for?" I fully expected my name to be at the top of the list...maybe behind his dad or brother...but at the top nonetheless. Instead, he answered without hesitation..."cars." After a minute, I decided that I was okay with being 2nd to cars so I probed a little deeper asking "Oh okay, anything else?" He answered with an emphatic..."trucks". After a couple of minutes, I decided I was okay with being 3rd in his life so I shamelessly probed just a little bit more and asked "Okay buddy, is that it?" His answer? "Yep."
Oh well, there's always next year...

Wrestle Mania!
Wide Open Spaces!
We headed to the country to visit our great friends, the Dunsmores, this past weekend. We had a great time catching up, loving on the babies, and watching the older boys get reacquainted. It was a special weekend for a few reasons! First, both Sarah and I were not pregnant! It has been a long time since at least one of us was not with child and it was nice to be able to discuss this 'not so good' planning over a glass of wine. Second of all, we got to meet the newest addition to the Dunsmore family, Sexy Rexy! He is such a sweet baby who just relaxed and took in all of the chaos around him. Third, Jason took Jack hunting for the very first time! They both had so much fun and although not a whole lot of hunting was actually accomplished, the stage has definitely been set. Jack can't stop talking about all that he saw and did on his big time with Daddy. And after seeing Jack's new "up in the air" pee-pee move that he learned on his inaugural trip, I think this little boy definitely has that hunting gene!
