With only a week left before Hayes' arrival, I knew we had to keep busy or the week would just drag on and on. So Jack and I packed our schedule tight with time at the playground, a birthday party, school for Jack, shopping, a mom's night out dinner for me, an anniversary lunch for Jason and I, etc. To top off the weeks festivities, we planned a trip to the zoo with Gigi and Grandad. We got there early so it was still cool outside and not a lot of people were there yet. The animals seemed to like the cooler weather as well because they were almost all out and about. The only bummer was that they were cleaning the elephants cage when we went by so they were no where to be seen. We were all very upset by this turn of events, especially Jackaroo. I mean really, how can you go to the zoo and not see the elephants? We did our best to try and move past it, but Jack continued to struggle. We went to see the bears and he said "bye, bye bears...we're going to see the elephants." Then, we went to see the lions and he said "bye, bye lions...we're going to see the elephants." You get the idea. So when we were about to leave Grandad ran ahead to check and lo and behold the elephants were out and about. We happily told Jack about our good fortune and what did he say? "No, no, no elephants!" So what's a mother and grandparent to do? Well of course, we took the little monkey and my swollen feet to get ice cream...

What a great way to spend the day! Glad to see you were up to the zoo before baby Hayes gets here.
